Missionaries and service

Hello there! I am back...  I just wanted shortly write about the kind of service the missionaries do (they do a lot of different service). When I was on my mini mission in 1997 one day we went to a park and collected trash. It was interesting. I am sad sometimes because I can not remember so much from my mission because I was ill most of the time. We also made Finnish pulla one day, I remember. I am not sure but we might have eaten them all ourselves lol. My memory is failing me in the pulla department. But they were a bit raw and undercooked if I remember correctly. Haha!  We also went to an old folks home to do service. I played the piano and we kept the elderly some company. I remember them asking why we were called SISAR all three of us and then VANHIN the two elders... Seems like my memory isn't that bad after all lol.  We also had Finnish lessons with a nice young man who taught us really well.  I did not have the time during my short mission to do all th...

The missionary situation now

Good mornig readers! So, now we have covered a little tiny blip of my history with missionary work and the missionaries. Let me know in the comments if there is something special you would like me to write about. I can try to do my best. Back to the current day. After the lovely children I had in 2021-2022 I was a little out of the system because I had to be at the hospital farther away for a month and could not see the missionaries because it was too far for them to visit. (I was there in the Fall of 2022). This year I have seemed to skip the spring time blues and subsequent visit at the mental hospital I usually experience each spring. Thank you missionaries for helping me skip it!  Anyway. When I was back in the swing of things I got a new calling at church: the music coordinator of the music at our Sunday meetings. One of our elders serving currently here is really talented at playing the piano and organ. He has been helping out in our ward and it has been awesome. We got...

My missionary-angels 1997 onwards

Good evening! Cinders here, mother, momma, boss, mom and ma'.  I thought I would write more later (i.e. tomorrow) but I just am too excited to tell you.   When I came back from my mini mission, I tried going back to LUKIO (senior high here in Finland) but the illness had taken over. It was my first psychosis. I needed to go to the mental hospital here near where I live.  I ended up spending eight months there.  One thing that helped me through that time was the missionaries visits. They visited EVERY WEEK. They did indeed not miss one single week. I am so grateful! I have some pictures from that time and they always make me cry. I remember the way I felt, or how numb and weird I felt. They gave me a lot of medicine. Nowadays I still have medicine but they are a lot more modern. Once I remember dreaming or just hearing "in my mind" how the missionaries sang to me. They did often sing to me. Nowadays I mostly hear them play the piano when they visit me or at...

Welcome to a new blog about being a missionary bonus mom!

Good afternoon from Finland!  Now, when it comes to being a missionary work -fan I have done it all: trackted, street contacted (that was once upon a time my favorite), done splits and everything. I even went on my own mission: Two weeks in Jyväskylä here in Finland. I have fed the missionaries, I have tried to help and support them, sometime we argued too. It has been interesting. I started doing missionary work with the missionaries in 1992 when I was 12. It was like a bit of a epiphany for me and especially after reading the book of mormon from cover to cover when I was 14 (in Seminary) I wanted people to learn about the gospel.  You must know one thing about missionary work: it is not easy. And it is 100% voluntary. Okay, that was two things. I was 17 when I went on my short mini/summer mission. I had two companions. One from the potao place Idaho and one from California with the flowers (I don't know exactly how to identify California). We had an interesting time. ...
